In Depth

Undoubtedly one of the biggest appeals for diving holidays in Latin America is the bucket-list liveaboard diving to be found off the Pacific coast from Mexico, Costa Rica and Ecuador. These remote islands, namely Socorro (Mexico), Cocos Island (Costa Rica) and the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), are home to an incredible abundance and diversity of big fish life, drawing experienced divers from all over the globe. These big fish scuba diving destinations would suit more experienced divers, who are looking for exhilarating drift dives amongst breathtaking marine life.

Scuba diving highlights include inquisitive oceanic manta rays and dolphins in Socorro alongside 10 species of shark. In Cocos Island, schooling hammerheads and tiger sharks are the stars of the show whilst large pregnant whale sharks, marine iguanas, schooling hammerheads and rays including oceanic and reef mantas are seen in the Galapagos Islands. Luxury liveaboards provide the perfect platform for scuba divers to access these remote, advanced locations with stringent safety protocols in place.
