"Kalimaya is the only dive resort with access to the sites of Sangeang, West Komodo and Gili Banta, meaning divers won’t share the sites with anyone else " - India, Reefscape Travel Director

In Depth

With only 10 bungalows dotted along a beautiful 400m private white sand beach, Kalimaya is a divers haven, built by divers for divers. The bungalows are spaced apart to allow privacy, with tactical foliage planted in between. Each bungalow is spacious with a partial open-air en suite bathroom and a private terrace facing the sunrise. The rooms are built from sustainable local materials and if you turn off your A/C at night you can listen to the waves lapping on the shore as you drift off to sleep. Meals are served family-style around one table, so that divers can discuss the highlights of the day and get to know one another. The food is fresh and varied, with a mixture of traditional Indonesian dishes and western offerings. The service is relaxed and friendly, with staff being eager to make your stay as memorable as possible and delivering this with the utmost Indonesian warmth and enthusiasm.

The Diving

Diving from Kalimaya couldn’t be easier, with an on site PADI 5* centre. There is a guided two-tank boat dive every morning to sites further afield, as well as unlimited unguided diving on the house reef. Night dives can be arranged too. Nitrox is available at an additional cost per fill. There are around 30 dive sites that can be accessed from the resort, many of which have been discovered and named by the resort owners Eric and Loren. Generally the sites are best for experienced divers as currents can be strong in this region. The dive guides here are excellent and have an intricate knowledge of the surrounding reefs.

Beyond the Reef

The main reason for people to visit this region is most definitely the snorkelling and diving, but when guests aren’t underwater they can venture out on a stand-up paddleboard or wander down the long white sand beach. There is also a very special opportunity to visit the Komodo dragons during a surface interval.
