"Mirihi takes the essence of what people love about the Maldives, and leaves out the frills. This is a very special island escape with divers in mind."                                          - India, Reefscape Travel Director

Overview

Found in the South Ari Atoll, Mirihi is one of the most popular islands in the Maldives for divers, due to several factors including its proximity to some of the most famous sites in the country. The tiny resort offers amazing service levels and always has the diver and snorkeller in mind. The house reef that fringes the island is particularly special.

In Depth

Mirihi is not just another Maldivian island. Measuring just 350m x 50m this is a tiny gem with only 38 guest bungalows both overwater and on the beach. The rooms are simple and elegant in design, with warm tones and pale wood. It has a distinct private island feel and service levels to match, delivered by an experienced hospitality team. At Mirihi you won’t find TVs in the rooms, motorized water sports or nightlife, but what you will find is utter tranquillity and relaxation! Despite the island’s humble size, dining options are varied, with two main restaurants serving cuisines from all over the world in settings with your toes in the sand or perched above the water, as well as a snack bar and wine lounge.

The Diving

Diving is one of the key focuses of the resort and the 5* PADI Centre, run by Ocean Pro, is excellent. There are over 40 sites within a one-hour boat ride from the resort. Ocean Pro offer a full range of PADI courses for divers of all abilities. Nitrox is available for certified divers. The daily schedule is varied to suit divers’ needs, and the house reef can be accessed at all times including for night dives. Diving is from the centre’s two boats; a modern fibreglass boat and a traditional wooden Dhoni. The dive centre team speak several languages and are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable in the country.

Beyond the Reef

Without a doubt, relaxation will be the order of the day when guests aren’t diving or snorkelling. This can be done with a book in hand on a perfect white sand beach, or by booking in a treatment at the Duniye Spa. There is a gym on site for those who like to stay fit on holiday, and daily yoga and meditation to centre guests. Mirihi can arrange for a whale shark snorkelling trip which is a truly unforgettable experience, boarding the resort’s yacht to venture out and swim with the largest fish on Earth. Dolphin cruises are possible at sunset with a glass of sparkling wine and some canapes. A full range of non-motorised water sports is also available.
