Overview
Located on the beautiful white sand Bounty Beach of Malapascua, Ocean Vida is the ideal spot for divers to make the most of the excellent diving the island has to offer. This is a small dive-focused resort in the heart of the action with a laidback feel and an excellent dive centre.
In Depth
Made up of just 20 beachfront and garden rooms, divers will find Ocean Vida a simple and relaxed hotel with a warm and friendly vibe. The rooms are modern in style with simple décor and their own en suite bathrooms. Each has its own small terrace or balcony which is a great spot to relax at the end of a day snorkelling or diving. The resort’s restaurant serves up fresh and delicious food with a varied menu showcasing the best of Philippine cuisine and some western classics.
The Diving
Sea Explorers operate the on-site PADI 5* dive centre which is just a few steps from guests' rooms. With over 30 years' experience, Sea Explorers have some of the best dive centres in the country with expert guides and great equipment. The schedule allows up to 4 boat dives per day including a dawn dive with thresher sharks, single tank morning dive, afternoon dive and dusk or night dive. Day trips to further sites are possible a couple of times per week and divers’ can sign up on the whiteboards in front of the centre, taking control of their own schedules according to their appetite for diving.
Diving is operated from the centre’s 2 spacious bangkas and a full range of PADI courses is available as well as Nitrox for certified divers. Groups are small with a 4:1 diver to guide ratio and the large team of experienced guides and instructors are on hand to showcase the best of Malapascua’s macro and thresher shark dives.
Beyond the Reef
Diving and snorkelling is the order of the day during a stay on Malapascua, however guests can also enjoy spa treatments at Ocean Vida’s sister property, Buena Vida, as well as daily yoga sessions. Day trips to Kalanggaman Island allow a full day out complete with a beach barbecue, or guests can rent kayaks and SUPs to glide out into the tranquil waters around the island.
