Overview

Located on top of a shopping centre, guests might at first be a little perplexed by the Duke Hotel, but the reality is that this is a fantastic clean and comfortable hotel in a very convenient location, right at the centre of Gozo’s ‘capital’ Victoria. In terms of style, The Duke has a modern finish and all the mod cons one could wish for.

In Depth

The hotel is made up of 30 rooms catering to families, couples and solo travellers alike, with options for a view out toward the Citadel or cheaper internal-facing rooms. Each has a modern en suite bathroom and equipped with air conditioning for hot Gozitan summers. Dining is in the main restaurant area, with daily breakfast being served as a continental buffet with a la carte options. Lunch and dinner can be enjoyed in local restaurants or room service can be arranged.

The Diving

Diving is operated from Xlendi Bay which is around 10 minutes’ drive from The Duke. The dive centre can arrange for daily transfers or guests can drive themselves. The daily schedule is a morning and an afternoon dive, with two-tank day trips being available as well as night dives. The extensive and experienced dive team can speak several languages and as well as offering courses can serve as expert dive guides. Nitrox is available as well as full equipment rental. The house reef is Xlendi Caves which is a fantastic dive site accessed from the shore.  

Beyond the Reef

When guests aren’t diving, there is plenty to get up to on the island of Gozo. There are options for water sports, historical interest tours to Ggantija Temple or guests can explore at their leisure in a hire car, enjoying coastal restaurants and quiet afternoons in Gozo’s bays and lagoons. Day trips to Malta can be arranged to visit Valletta or the ‘Silent City’ of Mdina. Malta is steeped in a rich history and there are many great museums and galleries for guests to frequent.
