Overview

Aqua Blu is a luxury Indonesian liveaboard which sails throughout some of the most remote parts of the Indonesian archipelago. Some 60m in length, this luxury yacht is the perfect vessel for those wanting to explore both above and below the waves, ideal for divers and snorkellers. The onboard experience is comparable to top resorts around the world and the crew is made up of some of the best in the industry. This is the perfect 'floating hotel' from which to explore the treasures of Indonesia across regions including Komodo, Raja Ampat, West Papua and the Spice Islands.

In Depth

Formerly British Naval Explorer HMS Beagle and later a private yacht in Europe, Aqua Blu has a compelling maritime history and has undergone a refurbishment in 2019 overseen by Dutch yacht designer Cor D. Rover, bringing it up to exceptional cruising standards. There are 16 suites of varying specifications spread across five decks so guests can select the cabin to perfectly match their preferences. The suites are all luxurious with incredibly comfortable beds, air-conditioning, en-suite bathrooms including rain showers, plenty of storage, portholes or large windows and even Nespresso machines in select cabins! Across the five decks, facilities include a saloon where detailed briefings are given prior to excursions, the sky lounge bar, a library and TV room, a jacuzzi, exercise bike and weights, spa and the sundeck equipped with loungers and day beds. Obligatory sundowners and canapés are served each evening from the sundeck. Lunch takes place alfresco on the forecastle deck whilst dinner is a more formal affair, served inside in the dining room or outdoor seating area of the main deck weather permitting. One of the highlights of Aqua Blu is the cuisine and it is a mouth-watering journey from start to finish with the chef crafting over 160 recipes incorporating Indonesia’s spices and flavours, cleverly blended with European cuisines. The quality is exceptional with highlights including 48-hour beef short rib rendang, Balinese suckling pig and freshly handline caught fish grilled with delicious Balinese Sambal.

The Diving

With a maximum of eight divers allowed onboard Aqua Blu on any one cruise, divers are extremely well looked after with a ratio of one dive guide per four divers. The dive guides onboard have a wealth of experience guiding across all of Indonesia and have learnt from the best resorts and liveaboards. Safety is at the forefront of the diving operation but is lead with passion, enabling wonderful underwater experiences. Depending on the cruise location, up to 2 dives per day are offered and the best dive sites are selected across each region so that divers can make the most of their time underwater. All equipment offered onboard is of the highest standard and condition and all diving takes place from an Aqua Blu tender to ensure the utmost comfort. 

Beyond the Reef

What sets Aqua Blu apart from other luxury liveaboards in Indonesia is their focus on catering for those that do not dive with each and every experience being so carefully crafted. Snorkellers will have incredible encounters led by the wonderful guides from pristine reefs to whale sharks to manta rays. Several activities are offered each day depending on the region but can include kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, visiting local villages, swimming in waterfalls, wildlife viewing (komodo dragons and birds of paradise to name a few) and more.
