"The Arenui is home to some of the best and most experienced dive guides in Indonesia, with the ability to spot the tiniest of critters." -Louisa, Reefscape Travel Director

Overview

The Arenui is a liveaboard that one could only dream of before experiencing it: it really does have it all. From the spacious and beautifully designed cabins to the huge sky deck adorned with giant daybeds to the incredible crew and guides to the delectable cuisine, this is the ultimate liveaboard diving operation. Add to this the word-class diving of some of the most remote destinations in Indonesia, and it is easy to see why the Arenui is booked up many years in advance.

In Depth

This traditional Indonesian phinisi oozes style and sophistication not only through the craftsmanship of the build, but also the furnishings throughout the vessel. The cabins are all individually themed with handicrafts from each of the Indonesia provinces and all have en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and plenty of space to relax when not diving. There are six deluxe cabins and for those wanting more luxury, the two remaining master suites are the ones to go for. Located on the upper deck, they have King-size beds, a sofa/relaxation area and seven large windows. Nothing beats waking up and drawing the curtains to the incredible topside of Indonesia.

The Arenui has several places to relax between dives, whether on the large daybeds on the Sky deck, the dining room or in the Sky restaurant. Meals are taking during the day in the dining room and if the weather permits, al fresco at the Sky restaurant. In keeping with their boutique philosophy, the food and win offered onboard is delicious. The internationally trained chefs create a wide range of international and local dishes, fresh and full of flavour. Dinner is a la carte which is particularly unique for a liveaboard and the afternoon snack is a particular highlight!

The Diving

All the underwater adventures begin with a dive briefing in the dining room, followed by kitting up on the dive deck alongside fellow divers and dive guides. The atmosphere is always one of excitement and the enthusiasm of the guides never wanes. Once kitted up, guests will step down on to the tenders in groups, no more than four per guide, meaning that the dive site is never crowded.

There are so many highlights onboard the Arenui, but if we had to pick one it would be the service both from the crew and dive guides. The guides are exceptional at what they do and make all the difference to an Indonesian diving holiday. From spotting the tiniest critters such as the Lembeh Sea dragon, to knowing the ideal time to catch a manta train, they are the best of the best and reason for coming on the Arenui alone. Up to four dives per day are offered onboard, including a dusk or night dive if guests can resist the sunset cocktails! Individual charging stations make this a great option for underwater photographers and nitrox is offered for those certified.

Beyond the Reef

Beyond the diving, a range of leisure and recreational activities are offered including a two person kayak, massages onboard, villages visits and treks depending on the location of the cruise. On transition cruises, there is often a marine biologist onboard who will run a through lectures throughout the trip which are well worth joining – informative but fun.
