Overview
Designed to weather extreme conditions, Hanse Explorer is an incredibly practical and sturdy vessel but following a beautiful refit in 2022, she is also a comfortable and stylish boat. Her advanced navigational equipment and the addition of stabilisers make this an ideal boat for exploring lesser-visited areas of the globe, all under the expert guidance of her experienced captain and crew. She is available for private charter in Antarctica and the Arctic, Alaska, Svalbard, Papua New Guinea and French Polynesia. Per-cabin trips are also available for select trips throughout the year.
In Depth
Hanse Explorer can sleep 12 guests in seven en-suite cabins including a large owner’s cabin (485 sq ft) situated on the upper deck with a large indoor lounge and a private deck area. The remaining six cabins are located on the main deck, each with their own generous viewing window which allows plenty of natural light in. Dining is possible inside or outside on a covered deck, and there is a comfortable salon area with a pop-out television screen to share photos and briefings each day. The upper deck has a hot tub perfect for sitting out under the stars, whilst inside directly from the activity deck there is a full sized Finnish sauna. Food and service is excellent on board, with an experienced multinational team delivering warm hospitality to guests and a very talented chef who serves up dishes from across the globe with flair.
The Diving
With a nitrox compressor on board and state of the art equipment, diving is no afterthought on board Hanse Explorer, whose owners are themselves keen divers. Depending on destination and the group on board, three to four dives per day can be arranged and there will be a local guide on board to ensure dives are executed in the best possible ways, taking into account tides, currents and seasonality as well as crucial local knowledge like when the quieter times are to dive. With this in mind, the daily schedule is flexible but tends to include 2 dives before lunch, one in the afternoon and the option for a night dive where possible. Equipment is loaded onto the zodiacs which depart from the activity platform at the stern of the yacht. Entry is by back roll and a sturdy ladder is propped over the side for re-entry into the zodiac after a dive. For those wishing to get certified on board, an instructor can be provided but advance warning is required.
Beyond the Reef
Hanse Explorer has two zodiacs on board for zipping guests to shore or for snorkelling excursions. Additionally there are three inflatable kayaks available, fishing equipment, stand-up paddleboards and snorkelling equipment. The team are creative in putting together varied and interesting itineraries to match a range of interests of guests on board, based on particular interests, and they have a great little black book of local contacts to facilitate amazing tours.
